How We Craft Your New Dentures

If you have lost all of your natural teeth, or most of them, then you need more than a dental bridge. To take on severe cases, we could create and place a set of complete dentures. In today’s blog, the team at Elm Creek Dental talks about crafting dentures for our patients in Maple Grove, MN.

When to Seek Prosthetic Dentistry

When do you need to see our team for tooth replacement? Well, as soon as you lose a tooth, you need to seek replacement. But if years have elapsed and you have lost several teeth, or all of them, we can help too. While dental bridges can take on one to three missing teeth in a row, we can use dentures to help. With dentures, our team can replace your missing teeth and rebuild your smile with a lifelike appearance and the ability to enjoy your favorite foods again!

Full and Partial Dentures

If you have lost most or all of your teeth, then we can create a denture that replaces every tooth on one or both arches. We can do this with a lifelike appearance, and ensure you can enjoy a wide range of meals again and avoid issues with clear speech too.

If you have lost several teeth and have multiple gaps in your smile, but not enough to receive a complete set of new teeth. In a case like this, we can create a partial, which contains new teeth set in a base that can fit within the gaps in your smile, so you have a full one again!

Creating and Maintaining Your Prosthetic

To begin the process, our team will examine the smile to see if you have decayed or diseased teeth that need extraction. We then detailed images and measurements of your bite with digital imagery, such as intraoral cameras and x-rays. We then use the information in a lab setting to design and craft a set of new teeth. When this is ready, you can start wearing your prosthetic. The prosthetic needs to be cleaned and soaked regularly, and can last about 5 to 10 years before replacement is needed as the jawbone ridge changes shape.

If you have any questions about how we treat missing teeth and save your smile, then contact our team today to learn more. We want to help you smile with confidence again and enjoy lifelike results too!
