Do You Qualify For Invisalign®?

If you have an uneven smile then you may feel embarrassed about your appearance. In addition, misalignment can also increase the risk of other smile issues, such as TMJ disorder, gum disease, tooth decay, and teeth grinding (bruxism). To address uneven smiles we may recommend clear braces. Do you qualify for Invisalign®?

How Do You Know If You Qualify For Invisalign?

Question: Who are the best candidates for clear braces?

Answer: We often recommend the procedure for patients over the age of 16 that have minor alignment issues. Serious misalignment may require traditional braces. We will examine your smile to decide which orthodontic treatment will best benefit your smile.

Question: How does this system work?

Answer: We first take impressions and photos of your teeth, which an Invisalign lab uses to create a series of aligners. You wear the clear plastic aligners each day for between 20 and 23 hours. About once every two weeks you will move on to a new set as your teeth are gradually corrected.

Question: Will I need to change how I eat/care for my smile?

Answer: No. With metal braces you may need to avoid hard or chewy foods, as they can become stuck in your orthodontics or possibly damage them. However, the aligners can be removed before meals, allowing you to eat as you always have. In addition, removable aligners also make brushing and flossing your teeth thoroughly an easier task, which can improve overall oral hygiene.

Question: How long does treatment last?

Answer: Adults typically take a year to see optimal results. However, as teens’ faces are still growing and changing, up to 18 months may be required. The exact time will depend on the severity of your misalignment and if you have worn your clear braces correctly. If you have any questions about Invisalign please contact our office today.
