Restoring the Appearance and Function of Your Smile
Dr. Carter offers several highly lifelike options to replace missing teeth. Although implants are the most stable restorative options, our state-of-the-art bridges and dentures can also be excellent choices. No matter which option you choose, you will receive highly lifelike restorations, thanks to our advanced materials and precise fabrication techniques.
Dental implants are small, biocompatible titanium screws. During implant surgery, Dr. Carter will place these screws directly in your jawbone. After your gums have healed, the implants will support a beautiful, custom-crafted restoration. Implants offer unparalleled durability and stability. They will never slip out of place, and you can continue to eat a wide range of foods. Implants also help to promote your overall oral health. They are the only restorative option that can actually prevent jawbone degeneration. Best of all, implants are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. With your new restorations, you will enjoy a stunning smile and a full return of your dental functionality.
A dental bridge literally “bridges the gap” left by missing teeth, filling this space with custom-created synthetic teeth. If you choose a traditional bridge, Dr. Carter will crown the teeth on either side of the gap, removing part of the tooth structure with a dental laser or air abrasion device. After taking impressions of your teeth, offsite lab technicians will create a full restoration to fit over these teeth. Dr. Carter also offers same-day bridges; instead of sending impressions to a lab, they will feed into a chairside computer, and our office milling system will fabricate a bridge in about 20 minutes.
We also offer implant-supported bridges, which do not affect the structure of the surrounding teeth.
Traditional dentures are comprised of a gum-colored plastic base and a lifelike set of synthetic teeth. A full denture will replace your entire dental arch, while a partial denture restores several adjacent teeth. Although traditional dentures are removable, Dr. Carter uses extreme care when taking impressions and measurements of your mouth. Using this data, lab technicians can create restorations that fit snugly around your gums and rarely move out of place.
For ultimate stability, you may also choose implant-supported dentures. Typically, Dr. Carter will place several smaller implant posts at an angle. This method creates a firm base for your denture, but it minimizes the impact to your surrounding tissues.
