Cosmetic Dentistry

A sparkly smile has a profound effect on how young you look. A whiter and brighter smile that reveals even teeth and a healthy, gleaming pink gum line can take ten years off of your true age.

With cosmetic dentistry, we can make your smile light up a room when you enter it. Through different procedures, we’ll create that beautiful smile of which you’ve been dreaming. With whitening, veneers, implants, crowns and bridges, we can change an average smile into a brilliant one.

Natural-looking alternatives such as advanced metal-free crowns, veneers, bridges, and inlays/onlays look, feel and function like your own teeth, allowing us to conserve as much of the natural tooth as possible. And, did you know that cosmetic dentistry might plump out the wrinkles and lines on the lower third of your face-without surgery?

The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry states 9 out of 10, or 92.5 percent of Americans agree that an attractive smile is an important social asset.

Implants

Missing a tooth?

Do you hide your smile because of spaces from missing teeth? Do you have difficulty chewing? Maybe your dentures don’t feel secure. If you are missing one or more teeth and would like to smile, speak, and eat again with comfort and confidence, there is good news! Dental implants are teeth that look and feel just like your own. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root made out of titanium that a dentist, oral surgeon, or periodontist places into your jaw to hold a porcelain tooth, bridge, or denture. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to injury, periodontal disease, or another reason.

Dental implants are actually longer lasting than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support. They are so natural looking and feeling, you may forget you ever lost a tooth. Your confidence in your smile affects how you feel about yourself, both personally and professionally. With proper care and maintenance, implants can last a lifetime.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers produce great smiles. Teeth, which have been stained, chipped, cracked or otherwise damaged, can look beautiful with this strong and durable technique.

Veneers are thin shells that are laid onto the teeth and bonded to the surface. Although they can be made of different materials, porcelain is frequently used because of its durability and realistic appearance. Veneers are a more conservative alternative to crowns since they require less removal of the tooth’s original surface. With veneers in place, patients can expect straighter, whiter, and more even teeth.

DURAthin® Veneeers

Are you dreaming of a new smile? Do you want teeth that are brighter, larger, or more youthful? Are you concerned about removing healthy enamel in order to get your new smile? If so, DURAthin® veneers may be the answer you’ve been waiting for.

DURAthin® veneers are very thin porcelain veneers designed to adhere directly to the front of the teeth without removing any enamel! This means for some people, we can design the smile of the dreams without even drilling on their natural teeth.

And there’s more good news, if you ever wanted to have the DURAthins® removed, your natural smile would still be in tact!

LUMINEERS®

LUMINEERS® are a wonderful solution for permanently stained, chipped, discolored, misaligned teeth. They can even be used to revitalize old crown and bridgework. Dr. Carter applies these contact lens-thin “smile shapers” to teeth without any grinding or shaving of the tooth, offering a relatively painless procedure. LUMINEERS® can transform misshapen, worn teeth into a naturally beautiful smile that looks perfect for every individual. Get your perfect smile today!

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and bridges, as well as implants with modern, natural-looking materials can close very wide gaps and restore function, appearance, and the proportion of your smiling face.

If more than half of your tooth has been restored with a filling, a crown is necessary. Without adequate support, the tooth may break away around the filling. As a rule, when fillings get larger, teeth become weaker. That is why a crown is necessary. A crown covers the entire tooth and holds it together. Crowns are used when large fillings wear out, when a tooth is cracked, or when cosmetic improvements must be made on teeth.

Bridges replace missing teeth with artificial teeth, look great and literally bridge the gap where one or more teeth may have been. They fill the unsightly spaces left by missing teeth.

Mini-Smile Makeovers

Creating a beautiful smile doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll need a mouth full of porcelain veneers. Often, Dr. Carter can rejuvenate a smile by focusing on a few problem teeth using minimally invasive and less costly dental procedures such as composite bonding in combination with cosmetic whitening. Creating a major transformation while preserving more natural tooth structure for a less money than you ever thought.

Full-Mouth Makeovers

In some cases, a full-mouth rejuvenation is necessary to create the smile you desire. These full smile makeovers can involve a variety of these cosmetic techniques: porcelain veneers, crowns, composite bonding, cosmetic tooth whitening, dental implants or bridges. After a comprehensive examination of your mouth, Dr. Carter will talk to you about your options and help you make the best decision for your smile.

Composite Bonding

A less expensive and less invasive remedy than crowns or veneers, composite bonding is an effective technique used to improve the appearance of your teeth. Bonding is ideal for masking teeth that are chipped, cracked, stained or injured teeth or reducing gaps between teeth. During the procedure, a delicate layer of plastic is painted onto the damaged teeth, adding strength and making them virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Composite bonding is a quick process, typically lasting less than an hour. Compared to veneers or crowns, it is a popular choice because it does not reduce the tooth’s original structure. Composite bonding is also relatively inexpensive. And finally, composite resins are available in many different shades. The shade can be chosen to match the natural color of the original tooth.

Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening performed in our office, or by using take-home products, is a safe and effective way to enhance your smile by removing stains from your teeth caused by coffee, tea, colas, tobacco products, and even aging. All of these products contribute to a dimmed, stained smile, which suggests aging. Tooth Whitening is one of the easiest and fastest ways to rejuvenate your smile.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Tooth-colored fillings (bonding) can simply and effectively treat cavities or completely transform the look of your smile, usually in just one visit.

Until recently, dentists filled and sealed cavities exclusively using a silver and mercury amalgam. Unfortunately, these fillings (or restorations) often weaken teeth due to the large amount of the original tooth that has to be removed. Modern dentistry has increasingly turned to composite fillings as a strong, safe and more natural looking alternative. Composite fillings utilize a soft white plastic substance that includes a hardening agent.

Inlays/Onlays

Some teeth need greater strength and support than can be given by fillings alone. Inlays and onlays are tooth-colored restorations that can fill large cavities and repair damaged teeth. Tooth-colored inlays and onlays do their work subtly and beautifully. The inlays and onlays, made of resin, ceramic or porcelain, can be bonded to your teeth and are much more natural looking and comfortable than their metal counterparts.

Full and Partial Dentures

Dentures can take the place of missing natural teeth. Dentures allow patients to chew and speak more easily while improving their appearance and boosting self-confidence. Full dentures are used when all of a patient’s teeth need to be replaced. Partial dentures are used when only a few teeth are missing. In either case, dentures can help you look and feel your best. Ask Dr. Carter about metal-free flexible partials.
